Next Monday 20th August, RSPCA NSW celebrates their fifth annual Cupcake Day fundraiser. Registered cupcake cooks across the nation will descend on their schools, workplaces and social groups with batches of delicious cupcakes made using cage-free eggs in exchange for donations to the RSPCA. All money raised will go toward helping the RSPCA continue the fight against animal cruelty.
The RSPCA is not a government funded charity. In fact, the animal welfare organisation receives less than 2% of funding from the government. As such, the RSPCA relies heavily on fundraising activities like Cupcake Day and the generosity of the supporters to help raise much needed funds.
In addition to all the great community events across the nation in August, RSPCA’s Sydney Shelter in Yagoona will host a Cupcake Day stall over three days from Saturday 18th August to Monday 20th August. Shelter staff and volunteers will bake cupcakes and dog-friendly pupcakes for members of the public to enjoy in exchange for donations. At the same time, people can visit and adopt animals at the shelter in need of a good home.
The RSPCA Care Centre in Rouse Hill will also host a Cupcake Day event on Saturday 18th August, 10am until 3pm, at Civic Way. There will be a cupcake decoration station for the kids and a cupcake eating competition with great prizes to be won.
There are plenty of other ways to get involved with Cupcake Day:
- Set up a Cupcake Day fundraising page and raise money online.
- Spread the word about Cupcake Day with local media and social media.
- Encourage colleagues, friends and family to hold their very own Cupcake Day event – it’s not too late register online at www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au or call (02) 9782 4494.
Monday 20th August is the sweetest day of the year for the RSPCA with money raised going to the operations and functions that allows the charity to exist today.
