Upsize your pooch for half the price - RSPCA Hunter Shelter

Indy can't want to find her furever home

RSPCA Hunter Shelter today announced a special adoption drive for the dogs currently in its care. From Friday 15 March through to Monday 18 March all dogs available for adoption in the Shelter will be half price. This Saturday the Shelter will also host a family fun-day with a BBQ, ‘doggie’ bags and lucky door prizes.

“Following on from the success of our half price cat and kitten adoption drive, we’ve decided to extend this discount to the canines in our care,” commented Samantha Shanahan, RSPCA Hunter Shelter Manager.

“We are encouraging people to consider adopting medium and larger breed animals and adult dogs as they are particularly suited to active families, those who may already have a pet at home, or owners wanting an exercise buddy,” Shanahan added.

More mature dogs have many advantages making them the perfect family pet. Most have developed their own character, are house-trained, need less exercise, are less excitable and are often a good match for homes with existing pets. If matched well, an adult dog will take no time fitting into the existing family dynamic.

“At the Shelter our older and larger dogs are often the last to be adopted so we’re hoping that the generous people of the Hunter who have already given homes to so many of our cats and kittens can find room for some of our precious pooches too,” Shanahan concluded.

Fees for the Hunter Shelter half price dog adoption drive are as follows:
  • Adult dogs: $155
  • Puppies: $185
  • Defined Breed Adults: $210
  • Defined Breed Puppies: $285
  • Golden Oldies: $50
All dogs and puppies adopted from the RSPCA are desexed, microchipped, vet checked and vaccinated.

You can visit the RSPCA Hunter Shelter at 6-10 Burlington Place, Rutherford, Maitland 2320, or give them a call on 02 4939 1555. The shelter is open from 9.30am to 3.30pm everyday except Thursday.
