'Hare' Care Week; Furry friend for life

This little lady is looking for her furever home

Here at the RSPCA we will always promote the joy an animal can bring into your family. We also advocate that an animal isn't a decision that should be made lightly. You need to consider your home arrangements, your lifestyle and if you will be able to provide your animal with everything that they need to be happy and healthy.

During holiday times such as Easter, people can be tempted to buy an 'Easter Bunny' as a gift, but you need to consider that this furry baby will grow up. They will need a long term home and an owner who has the time and money to take good care of them.

With any animal that is adopted from our Shelters, Care Centres and Branches, we recommend that you do your research and make a responsible decision about buying a new pet. Bunnies make wonderful pets and live up to 8 years. They are relatively easy to care for, quiet and gentle, and perfect for people who don’t have the room, time or energy for a dog.

Please read the checklist before getting a new pet. To view what rabbits and other animals are available for adoption click here.

Just remember, a furry friend is for life.
