IN THE CAN! RSPCA INSPECTORS SAVE COW FROM TOILET

On Saturday 1 June 2013, RSPCA NSW Inspectors responded to a call regarding a cow on a property in Bringelly in Sydney’s South West. On arrival Inspectors found a male calf with his head stuck in a fibreglass toilet. If not removed the toilet would continue to inhibit the calf’s ability to eat and take water.

Local residents had attempted to free the animal from its smelly situation however the calf had evaded them.

“We believe that the toilet was left outside as rubbish and the calf became stuck in the bowl by trying to eat grass that had grown through it,” said Donna Morgan, RSPCA NSW Inspector. “This is definitely one of the most peculiar situations that I have seen an animal trapped in.”

RSPCA NSW Inspectors tranquilised the calf before delicately removing the toilet bowl with a saw. The calf suffered a small amount of irritation from the bowl rubbing on its neck but will make a full recovery.
